St Thomas' Community Cupboard

Date published: 20 October 2016

St Thomas' Church has begun a new experiment, a Community Cupboard.

Rev Angela Bryan, St Thomas' Church, said: “Rochdale FoodBank is brilliant, but it is a way away from Kirkholt, has limited opening hours, and needs a voucher to access a food parcel.

“The idea of the Community Cupboard is to offer a stop-gap for anyone who is in need of food or toiletries at short notice.

“There are no forms to fill in, no vouchers needed, and no restricted opening times.

“St Thomas' Harvest Appeal means we have an initial stock to replenish the cupboard, but if the idea is going to work in the long term, it will need people to add things as well as taking things, when they can.

“We welcome anyone to join the project by taking what they need, adding what they can, and respecting it for others.”
