Janet Selby has decided to retire from being a Brownie Leader with the Unit after decades of service to Girlguiding, both as a member and a volunteer.
Janet has been involved with Girlguiding for over 30 years; giving young girls a place to grow and have new experiences.
Janet’s last meeting as a Brownie Leader saw members of Heywood Division and 8th Heywood Brownies come together to throw a small party in celebration of her service. During the party, Janet was presented with some flowers from Division Commissioner, Alyson Quinn.
Alyson Quinn, Division Commissioner, said: “For anyone to have over 30 years of service in Girlguiding is an excellent feat. That length of time requires huge motivation and enthusiasm.
"On behalf of Heywood Division, I am proud to have had Janet as a member of our team and I know she will be greatly missed. I am sure she will be around at some point though."
Julie Holt, another experienced Guider, has taken over the helm.
