Friends raise money to help children re-build their lives following house fire

Date published: 14 February 2017

Following the tragic fire in Withington which claimed the lives of a man and a woman, friends from Rochdale and Bury are pulling together to raise money for the family to rebuild their lives.

Nasser Afzal said: “On Friday 10 February one of my close friend's, Zaid Awad, families house set alight in Withington.

“His parents and siblings became trapped, tragically his parents didn't make it out. His three brothers and sister jumped from their upstairs bedroom window, breaking limbs in the process.

“It's deeply saddening and shocking to hear of the tragedy. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time.

“Nothing will ever replace their loss but as a community we would like to come together to help the children rebuild their lives from the loss of their parents, please visit the Just Giving page, we would encourage people to contribute to this noble cause."
