Demolition of Angel Meadow Flats well under way

Date published: 14 February 2017

The demolition of Angel Meadow Flats in Heywood is well under way, with two blocks already demolished, and a third under way on Tuesday (14 February).

The work started at the end of January and is due to be completed by March 2017.

Thirteen of the 17 blocks will be demolished, with four blocks retained.

Before work started, a spokesperson for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing said: “All tenants affected by demolition in Angel Meadow have now been supported by RBH to move to a new home.

“We are working on proposals for the site and we will share these with the local community for consultation as soon as our plans are ready. We want to make sure that our new development forms part of a successful and thriving Heywood town centre and provides homes that meet the needs of local people.

“The site has the potential to provide over new 50 family homes. We know from our recently completed scheme at Longridge Drive in Heady Hill that there is strong demand for high quality new affordable family homes in Heywood.”
