Police Community Support Officers Colin Taylor and Lauren Whelan have recovered and refitted an elderly man’s fence panels after they were recently stolen from his property.

The eagle-eyed duo spotted the panels in the Marland area of Rochdale, where they were being used as a den. They returned the panels to their rightful owner and refitted them in the process.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Recently, PCSO Colin Taylor and PCSO Lauren Whelan have been dealing with a report of a theft of six fence panels from an elderly local victim.

“The fence panels have been found by officers on wasteland in the Marland area and have been used to make a den by the offender(s).

“Earlier today, the officers dismantled the offender's den and later visited the victim’s property to re-fit the stolen fence panels.

“If you have any further information regarding this incident please call 101 and quote crime ref 027209B/17.”
