Myeloma Support Group Celebrate 10th anniversary

Date published: 17 February 2017

West Pennine Myeloma Support Group formerly known as the North Manchester and Bury Myeloma Support Group celebrates their 10th anniversary in February 2017.

The West Pennine Myeloma Support Group provides emotional and educational support for people with myeloma together with their carers, family and friends. The group welcomes anyone whose life has been touched by myeloma.

The group, which started in 2007, originally had 14 members but now has over 50 members although not all can make the meetings due to their health problems but like to keep in touch through the regular newsletters.

The group continues to be extremely active with regular meetings on various topics as well as social events. This year’s programme includes talks on coping with the illness including a talk on managing medications, welfare benefits and coping with fatigue as well as topics of general interest such as recycling and charity work with orphan children in Belarus.

To celebrate our 10th anniversary we will be having a cake at our next meeting and later in the year will be going as a group for afternoon tea.
