Yankee Heaven ‘Bake for Heroes’ and raise over £460

Date published: 19 April 2017

Littleborough’s Yankee Heaven raised over £460 for the ‘Bake for Heroes’ campaign on Saturday.

The family-run business has raised money for Help for Heroes for the past few years, raising £390 last year.

Lauren Jones, who runs Yankee Heaven with her husband, Mark, said: “It was a brilliant day; we raised £468.14.

"I’d like to thank everyone involved, my dad and children for running the stall, Pat Wilkinson for donating and setting up the table wear, friends who baked and everyone who bought the cakes and donated.”

Mark even dressed in a giant Help for Heroes bear costume, although Lauren admits, "as it was freezing, we all tried it on to keep us warm."

On hand to help out were Lauren and Mark’s children, and Lauren’s dad. Several friends also took to their kitchens and baked cakes to help out.

Bake for Heroes organisers are encouraged to fund raise from ‘tea and cake at work to a village bake sale’ to help raise funds for Help for Heroes.

The charity provides lifelong support to Service Personnel and Veterans with injuries and illnesses sustained while serving in the British Armed Forces.

The Bake for Heroes campaign officially runs between 15 and 30 April.
