Fun singing group set up at Milnrow Cricket Club

Date published: 20 May 2017

A ‘fun singing group’ has been set up at Milnrow Cricket Club, and they are looking for new members.

The group was set up in April by Liz Shelmerdine and Helen Smith, the social secretaries of Milnrow Cricket Club, to encourage people to visit the club and to integrate the club within the community.

With singing teacher Jocelyn Lavin, they have sung hits like The Four Seasons’ December ’63 (Oh What A Night), Andy Williams’ ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’.

Liz and Helen said: “We know that singing is good for our well-being and that it lifts everyone’s mood. You don’t really need to be a fantastic singer, just have lots of enthusiasm.”

Men and women of all ages are welcome to join the group, which meets on a Monday evening at 7.30pm for approximately 90 minutes. A small charge applies.
