Middleton residents clear litter on Durnford Street

Date published: 21 August 2017

Middleton in Bloom, as part of their program of improving the environment of the town with planting and digging, also include litter picks in grot spots suggested by residents.

Councillor Chris Furlong said: “At the last township meeting residents of Durnford Street and Paula Hickey and Keeley O’Mara, members of Middleton in Bloom, got talking about the litter on Durnford Street.

“It was agreed that on Sunday that residents from Durnford Street would meet up with the In Bloom team at the Boars Head car park and do a litter pick on Durnford Street and the surrounding areas.

“We had a great turnout and collected 15 bags of rubbish.

“The Middleton in Bloom team do at least one event a week depending on numbers and requests from residents.”

If anyone needs the team to help improve their environment or would just like to help out contact Councillor Chris Furlong christopher.furlong@rochdale.gov.uk
