Evie Jean Hill aiming to raise £400 for Little Princess Trust

Date published: 19 October 2017

Evie Jean Hill is aiming to raise £400 for the Little Princess Trust by cutting her long locks for the charity on 31 October at Juniper’s Hair Salon.

Evie, seven, from Castleton, decided she had ‘had enough’ of her long tresses, and wanted to ‘give it to people who do not have any hair’.

Her mum, Rebecca, said Evie was ‘adamant’ after making her decision and now ‘can not wait’ to have her hair cut to a shorter style. Approximately 13 inches of Evie’s hair will be cut and donated towards a wig for the charity.

Rebecca said: “I am lucky to have a little that is so thoughtful of others. I absolutely admire her determination to make others happy.”

She added: “I am so proud of her because she is doing such a courageous thing, especially as she decided for herself that she was going to do this.”

Evie also wants to raise enough to cover the cost of making a wig, which is around £350. She has already raised £250 so far.

‘Pink’ fundraising days will be taking place at the Co-op on 21 and 27 October for the event; Evie will be dressed as a princess on Saturday (21 October).

Donation boxes have been set up in Castleton shops, including Commic Candy, Juniper’s and the Co-op.

The Little Princess Trust also supplies children with other conditions that result in hair loss, such as alopecia. 120g of hair is required for each wig, which is approximately five to seven donations. A minimum donation of seven inches is required.
