Rochdale Infirmary hosts raffle for homeless

Date published: 23 December 2017

Rochdale Infirmary held a raffle draw on Monday (18 December) where a total of £800 was raised for the homeless of Rochdale.

Donations for the draw were received by Boots, Primark and Dunelm. A total of 100 pillows and quilts were also donated from the company Comfy Quilts, based in Middleton.

The out-patient’s department of the infirmary purchased clothes, toiletries and chocolates with the money raised, which were then distributed to the homeless.

They were also offered a flu-vaccination, a wound dressing service and a podiatrist was on hand if needed.

Hot meals were later served which was greatly received.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale were both in attendance, as well as a school choir and the singing jeweller of Rochdale who recently received the Man of the Year award, John Swinden.

Sharon Alletson, a speaker for Rochdale Infirmary, said: “The generosity of the people of Rochdale has been staggering, making their Christmas a bit more bearable.”
