Fund raising in support of lung cancer sufferer

Date published: 17 March 2018

Danny Whitworth was diagnosed with lung cancer last month, aged only 36, and to support him the gym Danny is a member of is seeking to raise £5,000 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation "because he may well need them in due course".

Fellow gym member Amr Nazir has volunteered to have a full body wax and head shave and there will also be a rowing marathon at the gym on the same day - Saturday 24 March.

Danny has been a member of Forever-Strong for nearly two years and has participated in many charitable activities in support of Springhill Hospice and Melanoma UK.

Having improved his own physical and mental health, he began amateur boxing coaching with local children at Middleton Select ABC.

Gym owner Gary Rothwell said: "As a gym, we intend to support Danny where possible and this starts with raising awareness of this disease, whilst also ensuring that much-needed funds go towards research, patient care and support, as required for Danny and the many others suffering from lung cancer.

"We are asking for your support.

"Please be kind enough to donate what you can to allow us to reach our target and help make a difference."
