On Friday 18 May, we will be celebrating the royal wedding by holding a special lunch with the children and staff from Springside. Children are asked to dress according to the theme as princes, princesses or in red, white and blue. A contribution of £1 is requested; this will cover the cost of a small keepsake and allow for a donation to charity. Thank you.

LKS2 are going on an exciting trip to Chester on Thursday, linked to their topic on Romans. We will keep our fingers crossed for nice weather and hope they have an amazing day.

KS1

SATs testing in KS1 has been underway for the last week, with children completing the first of their reading papers. This week, they move onto arithmetic and their second reading paper, before completing reasoning papers the following week. So far, all of the children have approached the testing with a mature and sensible attitude and we are sure that this will continue. We ask that parents continue to support us by ensuring children are in school every day, following a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. Thank you.

Year 6 SAT’s testing started this week and the timetable is shown below:

Monday - English grammar, punctuation and spelling: papers 1 and 2

Tuesday - English reading

Wednesday - Maths paper 1: arithmetic and Maths paper 2: reasoning

The children and staff have put a lot of hard work and effort into preparing for testing and all we ask that children try their very hardest to show what they are truly capable of.

We ask that parents continue to support us by ensuring children are in school every day, following a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. Thank you.

Hamer ‘Stars of the Week’ for week ending Friday 11 May are all of our fabulous children and staff for representing the school so brilliantly during our recent OFSTED inspection.

Our speech and language therapist, Maeve, is in school every Wednesday. If you would like to speak to her or require any advice, please feel free to make an appointment or drop in.

Well done to Mr Lomax’s Class with best attendance for week ending 4 May 2018.
