National Schoolboys’ ABA quarter finals in Littleborough
Littleborough boxing club and the North West Region Boxing Association hosted the quarter finals of the National Schoolboys’ ABA finals at Littleborough Sports Centre on Sunday (13 May).
There were 35 schoolboy bouts and all 70 boxers involved were champions of their region.
Charlotte Molyneux from Littleborough Sports Centre was instrumental in making it possible for the village to host the event.
Mark Oldham,Head Coach at Littleborough Boxing Club, said: I know it’s a first for not only Littleborough, but Rochdale as well.
“The event was fantastic with some very talented boxers on display and the North West doing very well.
"Littleborough Sports Centre were fantastic, especially Charlotte, as were the cricket club for their help with the seating.”
Assistant Head Coach, Jeff Leach added: "I visited the shops in Littleborough during the day and boxers were everywhere, remarking what a nice village it is.
“I was proud to help host the event and of Littleborough itself."
