Natural beauties overcome bullies

Date published: 21 May 2018

Two sisters overcome bullies to become finalists at a natural beauty pageant, one of whom will next be representing Manchester in the Miss Crown and Glory pageant later this year.

Defying the bullies and determined to stand up to them, sisters Rebecca Mills, from Rochdale, and Demi-Lee, from Oldham, entered the Miss Natural Beauty England and Teen Natural Beauty England pageant last year.

Demi-Lee was second runner-up, whilst youngest sister Rebecca won best hair, best smile and Miss Congeniality.

Whilst the pageant was Rebecca’s first entry, Demi had previously competed in in Miss Lancashire 2017 and Miss Teen Great Britain where she represented Oldham as Miss Teen Oldham 2017.

Demi-Lee said: “I want to do my very best for Miss Crown and Glory, raising as much as possible for Abbie's Army, a children's DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) brain tumour research charity. I will also be travelling all around the UK with my representative sash.

“As a pageant girl who has been negatively stereotyped, I have also created a blog and social media page to address the views that we are impolite, spoilt, uneducated or forced into these pageants by family.”

The UK grand finals of Crown and Glory are being held in Wrexham on Saturday 25 August 2018.
