Date published: 17 July 2018

St Peter’s Church of England Primary School in Rochdale, attended the Year 4 service at St Michael’s Church in Bamford on Tuesday 10 July. The children had created two prayer wreaths including prayers about kinship and friendship, the theme of the service.

The Right Reverend Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton and Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, led the service dressed in his official robes and mitre. He talked to the children about his special friend, who is a shepherd, and also his special friendship with Jesus.

He reminded everybody of what a special friend Jesus is to every one of us in our own lives. St Peter’s sang hymns and said prayers alongside 10 other schools from Rochdale and St Michael’s, Bamford, school choir sang two songs beautifully and read some wonderful scripture from the bible.

Year 4 teacher, Mr Jolly said: “All the Year 4 children had a fantastic time and loved making new friendships with children from other schools. Bishop Mark spoke beautifully and really engaged all the children.”
