Co-op raises over £150 for Rochdale Connections Trust

Date published: 18 July 2018

The Co-op on Rooley Moor Road raised over £150 for Rochdale Connections Trust on Saturday.

A fundraising tombola was held outside, raising a total of £158.

Bev Place, Rochdale Connections Trust, said: “It was great that some of our young people came along to help run the stall.”

Rochdale Connections Trust is one of the Rochdale Co-op's current Local Good Causes, a local community fund which works by donating 1% of the money spent on selected own-brand products by Co-op members towards a cause.

The Co-op membership scheme sees members receive a 5% reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services.

Shoppers can select their own cause to benefit from their 1%, and any money raised by members who don’t select a cause is added to the money raised from shopping bag sales. This is shared equally between the causes in their local area.

Rochdale Connections Trust provides a range of valuable support services, including work with vulnerable families living across the most deprived communities throughout the Borough.
