We are delighted to announce that there will be an Evening of Asian Dance performed by Internationally renowned Dance Artist Zoobin Surty and his Bradford company at the Gracie Fields Theatre on Friday 2 July. It will be an opening to the school's annual International Week and Evening. The show will celebrate the Festivals of India and will include pupils from the school performing with the company dancers.
Tickets are available to the community at the school reception costing £3.50 for children and £5.00 for adults. The show starts at 7.00pm and will finish at 8.30pm. We look forward to seeing you on the evening of the 2 July.
A reminder that Year 12 students will return to normal timetables on Monday 21 June. Not only will students start on their A2 work, but will also be involved in a variety of activities to prepare them for applications to, and life at university. This will include a trip to a university campus on Wednesday 30 June.
Also advance warning that our International Evening will take place in school on the evening of Thursday 15 July. Building on the successes of the previous two years this promises to be an incredible evening showcasing the very best we have to offer in the way of music, art, dance, drama, food and a variety of other activities and themes from across the world. More details to follow.
The School of Rock concert will take place in school on the evening of Wednesday 30 June, in which bands and artists go head to head. Last year’s event was a fantastic night so please come along to support. More details to follow.
Congratulations to our students of the half term leading up to June. For Year 7 these are: Roheed Akram, Iqra Ul-Haq, Rachel Feehan, Akesha Turner, Laila Ali, Chloe Walkden, Holly Williams, Emily Sneddon, Alina Ali and Ella Storto. For Year 8: Charlotte Welsby, Sabah Mazar, Taylor Wolfenden, Michael Moore, Dean Sladen, Christian Stevens, Joanne Holt, Joseph Vandenburg, Muhi Choudhury and Iqra Ali. For Year 9: Hamza Al-Bahadar, Danniel McDowell, Danielle Marshall, Hana Barzinji, Joshua Singh, Lucy Stocker, Jennifer Nairn, Sophie Allen, Cameron Howarth and Ruman Shakil. For Year 10: Lois Shaw, Zainab Latif, Maryam Choudhury, Iqra Waheed, Iqra Younis, Emma Christian and Mahvish Arien.
Because Year 11 have just left we have nominated students of the year as follows: Matthew Crawford, Ryan Dignum, Kiran Hussain, Ben Davenport, Rebecca Mellor, Christopher Wilson, Mira Obradovic, Michael Scoble, Megan White and Kiran Parwez.
A big well done to our Year 8 rounders team, who won games against St Cuthberts and St Anne's Academy on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. They were magnificent and thoroughly deserved these excellent results. Congratulations go to Lydia Barlow-Fell, Alivia Marshall, Sophie Byrne, Aroosa Hussain (player of the match on Tuesday), Taylor Wolfenden (player of the match on Wednesday), Holly Neal, Abi Spruce, Amy Stewart and Gabby Hampson.
Our Year 9 rounders team also had an excellent result last week beating St Anne's. Again, they played really well and thoroughly deserved their win. A huge well done to Charlotte Podmore, Hannah Culliney, Shauna Uluinayau, Aisha Ramzan, Rachel Marsden, Kim Turner, Jennifer Nairn, Gemma Boothman and Beth Greenwood.
