Heroin addict stole charity box

Date published: 26/05/2009

A Rochdale heroin addict stole a charity box from a garden centre last Wednesday, 20 May.

Anthony Holt, 40, stole a collection box for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds from the Gordon Rigg Garden Centre in Walsden.

Holt fled the garden centre with the box after he was questioned by an employee but he was caught by a security guard.

Holt has been struggling to combat his heroin addiction for a number of years.

He was given a six week curfew between 9pm and 7am.

I cannot believe that a curfew between between 2100hrs and 0700hrs, to be any form of punishment for theft.

Is it because he is an addict, or because he is a heroin addict.

Or are you saying it is alright to steal between 0701hrs and 2059hrs. What about making him work for the RSBP, making collection boxes.
