Come to Rochdale for Britain’s Biggest Tea Party!
Date published: 12/05/2005
Britain's biggest tea party, Tea at 3, comes to Rochdale on Friday, June 17th at 3pm. In aid of Springhill Hospice, it is helping to raise vital funds for the Hospice's 15th Anniversary refurbishment Appeal.
With everyone in the UK drinking over 1000 cups of tea per person per year it is the ideal opportunity to help your local hospice. The staff at Springhill needs you to take part and you can do this in various ways, which include:
• Coming to the Tea at 3 party taking place at Springhill Hospice on 17th June at 3pm
• Holding your own fundraising tea party
• Donating money at your tea breaks
• Having a bring a pound to work day
Last year 3,500 tea parties took place across the UK in lots of different locations such as lifeboats, swimming pools, and even in helicopters. Hundreds of local groups took part in the event last year and even more will do so again this year and Springhill Hospice is joining the venture so why don't you?
Actress and celebrity cook Jane Asher is also supporting the event and has created a special 'Tea' Cake made with Tetley Tea. Last year celebrity support came from the Cheeky Girls, Melinda Messenger, Tony Blackburn and Jennie Bond, who all celebrated with Tea At Three at The Ritz.
The Springhill Hospice '15th Anniversary Refurbishment Appeal' is using the campaign to help raise £1m (over and above the £1.8m needed to keep the Hospice functioning) in order to fund a variety of projects such as the building of a new overnight facility for patient's relatives. In addition the Appeal will also raise funds to provide the Hospice with new fixtures and fittings in replace of current items, which are showing signs of age.
We really need to get Rochdale on the map with this campaign and as we know that Springhill Hospice is already at the forefront of the people within the borough's hearts and minds, we are hoping that now is the time that we can prove it.
Together, let's make our cuppa's count!!
