Hospice have High Hopes for Wristband Support

Date published: 18/05/2005

After last years 'livestrong' yellow wristband event launched for Cancer survivor Lance Armstrong,  Springhill Hospice have decided to raise funds for cancer research around the world, and this week the team at the office have jumped on board the silicone wristband craze.

Springhill Hospice is hoping to follow the success of Mr.Armstrong, who is the six times winner of the Tour De France.

This year, the funky green wristbands are being sold in various outlets throughout the Rochdale borough and are proving to be so popular amongst people of all ages, that the Hospice Fundraising Team is astounded.

The money raised by the sale of these items, will be used to put towards the Hospice’s 15th Anniversary Refurbishment Appeal, which began in 2004.  They are hoping to raise £1 million with this campaign, to be used to fund a variety of projects such as the building of a new overnight facility for patient’s relatives. In addition the Appeal will also raise funds to provide the Hospice with new fixtures and fittings in replace of current items, which are showing signs of age.

Leyla Nejad, Community Fundraiser at the Hospice said, “The people of Rochdale have been incredible in embracing the style and are purchasing the wristbands faster than any of us had imagined. They are really flying off the shelves and all we can assume is that the people of Rochdale are very fashionable indeed!”

These accessories are available in two sizes, both large and small and are reasonably priced at a mere £1.50 per item. For further details and your nearest stockist contact Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office on 01706 711144.
