Family Pay Tribute To Victim Of Dangerous Driving

The family of a 54-year-old woman who was killed in a road traffic collision last night, have issued a tribute to her. Glenys Mason, of Buckley View, Rochdale, died after being in collision with a Honda Civic car, driven by a 19-year-old man, on Albert Royds Street at approximately 5.15pm.
Her family said: "Glenys was a friendly and caring person who enjoyed life and would help anyone. She was a much loved mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed."
Glenys was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and lived and worked in as a nurse in the Knaresborough area until 1989, when she moved to Rochdale. She has three grown up sons, 30-year-old Matthew, 27-year-old Gareth and 24-year-old James, and four grandchildren.
A 27-year-old man, also from Rochdale, suffered serious pelvic, leg and chest injuries in the collision. Officers from the Area 3 Road Policing Unit are now appealing for witnesses, they are asked to contact officers on 0161 856 8473.
They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who stopped at the scene to assist but did not leave their details with officers.
It has been said that a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
