Hornets Chairman Ray Taylor dies

Date published: 03/10/2005

Rochdale Hornets Chairman Ray Taylor has died after ebing taken ill on holiday in Tenerife this weekend. He did not recover from having a stroke and a brain haemorrage.

Paying tribute to Ray Rochdale Online's Rod Barry said: "I knew Ray Taylor for many years and counted him amongst my friends, we never had a cross word. He was steeped in the game of Rugby League and had a deep-seated love for Rochdale Hornets, he worked tirelessly for the club. He was a kind and very honest man who was not afraid to express his feelings no matter what the situation. I will remember with fondness having lunch with him at the last game of the season and swapping opinions about the doubtful parentage of the referee during the game. My thoughts are with Barbara and her family at this time. Rochdale has lost one of its favourite sons, you led a good life Ray, I am honoured to have known you. Rest in peace my friend."
