Rochdale’s Grand Christmas Parade & Light Switch On
Date published: 14/11/2005
Christmas came early this year in Rochdale as a Grand Procession commenced on Saturday 12 November from the top of Yorkshire Street. The parade was led by the award winning Rochdale Music Service, pantomime characters from Babes in the Wood, along with Roscoe the Exchange Bear and Splodge the Clown. Skylight Circus also wowed the crowd again with six giant lanterns known as the Luminosity Project, consisting of goblins, dragons and unicorns a truly magical feel for a magical Christmas.
Trevor Hodgson, who was Rochdale’s answer to the X Factor, made a special guest appearance, he was on stage on The Butts.
The lights were switched on by Cllr Ashley Dearnley, the Mayor of Rochdale, and Trevor Hodgson and to round off the event there was also a fabulous firework display.
Santa was be in his grotto in the Rochdale Exchange throughout the day with children visiting him with their Christmas present list!
