Another bite of Basic Hygiene training in Urdu

Date published: 07/12/2005

A popular training course for Urdu speakers is being repeated next month. Rochdale Council's Environmental Health service is organising the Basic Food Hygiene course in Urdu for employees who handle food.

The course takes place at Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street in Rochdale on Monday 16 January 2006. The full day course costs just £25, which includes the exam fee, a 'food safety principles' workbook, and lunch. All employees working with food are legally required to be trained to a standard that relates to their responsibility and the food they handle. Anyone handling or preparing open high-risk foods should have completed a Basic Food Hygiene Course.

The exam papers are available in English, Urdu or Bengali. For people who have difficulty reading any of these languages there is an oral (spoken) paper.

Saiqa Aslam, Environmental Health Officer for Rochdale Council will be teaching the course in Urdu. Saiqa said, "Previous courses have been a great success. We had lots of applications and had to turn people away, so we want people to book early to avoid disappointment."

Any local business wishing to book their staff on the course should contact the Environmental Health service on (01706) 864255, or pick up an application form from Floor 1 of Telegraph House, Baillie Street, Rochdale.
