Despite the bad weather, a strong message was sent from the people of Rochdale regarding the proposals for the loss of vital services at the Rochdale Infirmary.
More people joined the rally as it progressed up to the top of Yorkshire Street while volunteers collected petitions on the way. The marchers sent a very loud "Save Our Hospital Services" message to the Pennines NHS Trust.
Marchers also visited the Health Bus parked at the Butts and filled in the Healthy Futures Response form, which everyone is urged to fill one in with their comments and concerns - the closing date for the consultation ends on 13 May.
Cllr Jean Ashworth, a member of Friends of Our Hospital and one of the organisers of the rally, said: "Friends of Our Hospital would like to thank all the people who braved the bad weather, and Rochdale Online for coverage of the rally. Also to Lambourne Images - their photos show that the people of Rochdale are united in saving our vital hospital services."
