A police officer who was convicted of assaulting a man in custody at Rochdale Police Station has left Greater Manchester Police as he was 'required to resign'.
36-year old Anthony Lang, from Moston, was found to have attacked a man who had been arrested at the Rochdale station in June last year.
He was fined £800 and ordered to pay £350 costs and £100 compensation by magistrates in Macclesfield.
Lang was convicted after a trial in February.
A spokesman for the force said Lang was 'required to resign following a disciplinary tribunal'.
