Safeguard your family and home at flood awareness event

Date published: 29/10/2008

To help residents safeguard their home and family from flooding, Rochdale Council, in partnership with the Environment Agency, is running a Flood Awareness Event at the Littleborough Coach House on Saturday 8 November.

Residents will be able to find out if their home is at risk of flooding and gain useful help and advice on what they can do before a flood to help reduce the effects.

Eligible residents will also be able to sign up to the Environment Agency’s free Floodline Warnings Direct service, which provides direct warnings via phone, email or text message when flooding has been predicted, therefore giving warnings well in advance so people can prepare.

Kate Fahy, Resilience Officer at Rochdale Council, said: “There are 1401 properties at risk from flooding from rivers alone in the Pennine area, we urge residents to come along to the Flood Awareness Event and find out whether their homes are amongst those at risk.”

The Flood Awareness event will take place from 10.00am until 2.00pm in the Harvey Function Room at the Littleborough Coach House on the 8 November.
