Talks over care and support in Townships
Date published: 31/10/2008
Following the launch of a national debate on the future of care and support, the people of Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton can have their say at a series of meetings held across the four Rochdale Townships.
The next event is organised for the Pennines area on Thursday (6 November) between 12 and 2pm at Butterworth Hall in Milnrow.
Event organiser Debbie Abrahams said: "Many of us know that as we get older, or if we have a disability, we rely on the care and support of others, whether that is a family member, a friend or neighbour, or formal care provided through the Council and their agents.
"I have heard some heart-rending stories about how people were coping with their infirmity and family members dedicating their lives to care for their loved ones.
"There is real concern too for the future, about whether they can stay in their own homes and be cared for or whether they will have to sell their property to fund this care."
The event poses the question:
With people’s rising expectations and the increasing demand for both formal and informal care how can we ensure high quality care for all that is ft for the 21st century?
