Family pays tribute to Oldham crash victim

The family of one of the three people who died when the car they were travelling in crashed into a garden wall at high speed in Oldham have paid tribute to him and said his death was a 'terrible waste'.

Christopher Morrison, 23, who was from Middleton, died in the collision on Sunday (16 November).

His mother Bernice and father Joe said: "Chris was a lovely lad who was well-liked.

"It's a terrible waste for all of them who died.

"I hope people of that same age group don't do anything similar and I just hope something good comes out of this."

His parents said Christopher had been looking for a job and wanted to become a gym instructor.

Shortly after 3.30am on Sunday a police officer on routine patrol attempted to stop the car in Oldham town centre.

The Vectra made off and the officer pursued the car up to the point that it crashed, leaving a scene of devastation.

Police have now formally named the 30-year-old man who died in the collision as Paul Bunting, of no fixed address.

He leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter.

Cassie Fox, 19, who was from Monsall, also died after being fatally injured in the collision.

A fourth passenger, an 18-year-old woman who lived locally, is currently in a critical condition at Hope Hospital.
