A man is being kept alive by a life support machine after being crushed by a ton of work equipment.
The 40-year-old man from Renolds Gears engineering company, Milnrow, was rushed to hospital yesterday morning after being crushed under what is thought to have been a large metal sheet.
Fire crews and paramedics rushed to the scene and the man was taken to Hope Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Renolds Gears is part of a large engineering group which manufactures and sells industrial chains and related power transmission products.
A spokesman from Great Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two fire engines arrived at the scene and the incident was immediately handed over to paramedics.”
Renolds Gears decided not to comment, although they have confirmed that the man is in intensive care.
