Littleborough Arts Festival

The sixth annual Littleborough Arts Festival takes place this weekend, Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 September, at the Coach House, Lodge Street, Littleborough. With over 180 pieces of art on display form artists around the region, including Burnley, Bury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Oldham, Rochdale and Rossendale, this is an opportunity to acquire a unique artwork and support the Springhill Hospice.

In addition to the Open Art Display, the festival includes a photographic competition, with you the visitor being the judge, so come along and vote for your favourite image. The theme this year depicts the four elements; air, earth, fire and water.

Following the successful Digital Photography Workshop for the over fifties held on 3 September by Maria Bracken, images from seven local budding photographers are also on display. Visitors can see Littleborough through the eyes of the workshop participants.

The Children of Holy Trinity CofE School have also contributed art work to the festival on a wide variety of themes.

The Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum have loaned a special exhibition including a display of Littleborough Fire Memorabilia, a selection of prints and on Thursday 13 there will be an appearance by one of their treasured appliances. 

The Arts Festival opens at the Coach House, Lodge Street, Littleborough on Thursday 13 September and runs until Sunday 16 September. Opening times are Thursday and Friday 11am to 8pm; Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm.

One of the event organisers, Nick Andrews, said: "We hope lots of people will come along. Entrance tickets allow entry for each day of the festival and there will be music to accompany people as they browse the artwork. Once they have finished browsing they can pop into the Coach House Bistro for a coffee and cake or snack - there is much to delight! St James Church, Calderbrook Road, Stansfield also has a linked display of artwork by the late Pat Crabtree, so extend your stay in the Littleborough area and visit another of our wonderful venues."

The Littleborough Arts Festival has to date donated £11,000 to the Springhill Hospice, now in its sixth year it seeks to continue to support this highly valued service on behalf of the people of Rochdale.
