Springhill Hospice looking for midnight walkers

As announced on Rochdale Online a few weeks ago Springhill Hospice, in conjunction with Middleton Round Table, Fitness First and Rochdale MBC, is holding a female-only half-marathon sponsored walk on Saturday 21 July 2007, commencing at midnight!

So far over 150 willing ladies have signed up to participate in "The Springhill Hospice Midnight Walk’, the first of it’s kind in the Borough.

In an innovative bid to raise as much sponsor money as possible from the event, the organisers are now looking for local companies to support individuals in their participation in the walk.

Ian Jenkins, Fundraising manager at the Hospice says: "We are not specifically looking for businesses to sponsor participants directly - although that would be an added bonus - but would ask that businesses give their employees the opportunity to sponsor a walker. For example, we have several members of the Hospice nursing staff who will be taking part, and we would be delighted if companies out there offered their employees a chance to sponsor one or more of our girls.

"Corporate adoption of this kind would really boost our final sponsorship figure. I am very happy for companies that get involved in this manner to have an acknowledgement of their support put on the event t-shirt being worn during the walk by their adopted participant."
