Have your say on plans for Trub Farm
Date published: 11/01/2007
Local people are invited to comment on a draft Planning and Development Framework for the Trub Farm Area of Opportunity in Castleton.
Rochdale Council and Rochdale Development Agency have put together a framework to guide landowners and potential developers of the site. The draft has been approved for public consultation by the Rochdale Township Committee.
The site provides the opportunity for a mixed-use development combining housing with employment, retail, and leisure development, close to Castleton centre. Such a canalside development, if it is of a high quality design, could make a major contribution to the image and overall regeneration of Castleton village and the Rochdale Canal Corridor.
The draft Planning and Development Framework, and details on how to comment are available from Castleton Library, Castleton Community Centre, Planning Services reception at Telegraph House, Baillie Street, Rochdale or on the Council's website www.rochdale.gov.uk
The deadline for any comments is Friday 9 February 2007.
Background information
The site is on the land to the east of the Rochdale Canal, south of Castleton village centre, between the canal and the rear of properties on Manchester Road. It is allocated as the Trub Farm Area of Opportunity under policy R/4(i) of the recently adopted replacement Unitary Development Plan. The UDP was subject to public consultations during 2003 and a Public Inquiry in 2004 and subsequently the Plan has been adopted by the Council.
The draft framework builds on the principles of development set out in the Unitary Development Plan policy and includes advice on the principles of development, the location of the appropriate land uses, design and layout considerations and development issues relevant to the site.
