Final decision due on healthcare changes

Date published: 12/12/2006

The final outcome of the Healthy Futures public consultation on changes to adult  healthcare in the north east of Greater Manchester is due to be decided this Thursday (14 December).

The Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) affected by Healthy Futures will meet in public to review its provisional decision, made on 14 September, following the conclusion of Making It Better, a separate public consultation on the future of inpatient children’s, maternity and neonatal services across Greater Manchester, High Peak and East Cheshire.  The decisions of both consultations must be compatible, as some services affected by Healthy Futures need to be located on the same site as services affected by Making It Better, and vice versa.

With the Making It Better Joint Committee of PCTs having announced its decision on 8 December, the Healthy Futures Joint Committee is now in a position to make a final decision on changes to adult healthcare.

Members of the media and the public are welcome to attend the Joint Committee meeting, which will take place at 4pm on Thursday (14 December) at the Lancashire Health and Racquets Club, Heywood Old Road, Middleton.
