Father Christmas Fun Run at Hollingworth Lake
Date published: 04/12/2006
Hundreds of Santas took part in the first ever "Father Christmas Fun Run’, in aid of Springhill Hospice on Sunday 3 December, around 400 runners and walkers all dressed in Santa suits descended on Hollingworth Lake.
The event was the brainchild of Hospice supporter Pearl Benbow, who took part in a similar event last year in Liverpool. Pearl said: " My son, Paul, and I were just two of some 4,000 people who did the Liverpool Santa Run. Besides being good fun it was a great spectacle and I thought that we should bring a similar event to Rochdale in aid of the Hospice."
