Date published: 21/11/2006
Suzanne Wilson, who recently took part in the Great North Run, attended Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT) to talk to young people about how she had raised a generous donation through sponsorship - which she had donated to RCT.
The young audience were interested to hear about the preparation required before runners were able to compete in such an event. Suzanne being the ideal person to describe the difficulties and stresses experienced by long distance runners than - this is the second time Suzanne has run in the Great North Run.
Suzanne, together with Richard Sagerson, donated almost £1000 to RCT funds.
Rochdale Connections Trust is a project designed to reintegrate young people back into education, training or work. The young people may have issues with family relationships, drugs and alcohol, mental health problems or other difficulties which mean that they are disaffected.
RCT is a one-to-one mentoring service using volunteer mentors who are specially trained on our accredited training course. They also encourage young people to join in group activities to aid their integration.
