Improving opportunities for disabled people

Date published: 09/11/2006

The Pennine Acute Trust, which runs Rochdale Infirmary, is currently working on the production of its "Disability Equality Scheme’ and invites anyone who is disabled, carers and relatives, staff and professionals from other services to a workshop style roadshow.

The roadshow will allow everyone attending an opportunity to make comments, put forward ideas and suggestions, ask questions about our services and the "Disability Equality Scheme’ and gather information.

Nadia Khan, a divisional human resources manager for the Trust, which is the largest in the North West, said: "The roadshow will help inform our work on the "Disability Equality Scheme’ and provide an excellent opportunity for us to listen to our service users to gain a better understanding of the obstacles experienced by people who are disabled. Our aim is to improve communication and work towards removing any barriers.  This also includes improving employment opportunities."
