Man stabbed on Crawford Street - police appeal for witnesses

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was stabbed in Rochdale yesterday evening, Friday 21 July 2006.

Shortly after 7.30pm, the man was walking along Crawford Street, towards Oldham Road, when he was met by another man walking towards him near the alleyway leading to the canal.

The man walked up to him and accused the 19-year-old of assaulting him earlier in the year. The man then stabbed the victim in the chest and groin area before running away towards Oldham Road.

The man was taken to Rochdale Infirmary for treatment to his stab wounds and a punctured lung. He remains in a stable condition.

The offender has been described as Asian, aged in his late teens or early 20s, 5ft 8in, of skinny build, with short black hair and a pointed nose. He had a Van Dyke style moustache and was wearing a black tracksuit.
