Rochdale Boroughwide Housing Wins Excellence Award
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) – the organisation that manages the borough’s 14,500 council houses – is celebrating after its "Raising the Standard" programme won the prestigious "Partnering Scheme of the Year" at the Housing Excellence Awards 2006, beating off numerous schemes from across the country.
A prominent group of judges, specialists in the housing field, assessed all submissions, based on criteria including commitment to communities, innovation, environmental responsibility, value for money and customer satisfaction. The trophy was given to the scheme that best illustrated true partnership working.
Using ground-breaking working methods, RBH illustrated how they had teamed up with Bramalls, Crudens, tenants and the entire supply chain, acting together to successfully deliver the Decent Homes standard in the borough. This has been achieved well ahead of time and the judges felt that "Raising the Standard’ had "demonstrated an ability to go beyond what is expected and deliver that little something extra."
RBH Managing Director Paul Neate said: "This award belongs to the tenants, staff and contractors that contributed so much to the success of Rochdale’s biggest housing improvement project for very many years. Rochdale is one of only a handful of councils across the country that has achieved the governments decent homes target, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the tremendous team effort of all concerned."
