Jericho Foundation Training Room

Date article online: 11/04/2008

A new training room, built by graduates from The ReBuild Project, was officially opened by Paul Rowen MP. In his speech, Mr Rowen commended the work of The Jericho Foundation, using his own experiences in teaching to illustrate how important it is to recognise we all make mistakes, and we all deserve another chance. He praised the quality of the work carried out on the new Training Room, and commented on the impact that the ReBuild Project was having in the community.

The opening ceremony, attended by Jericho Chief Executive, key personnel in the Training Community from Learning and Skills Council, and others from Rochdale Council and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, was followed by a unique afternoon tea, with a variety of home made scones, with jam and cream available!

Both Helen Munro and Iain Wight, who together launched Jericho Rochdale in September 2007, commented on the high level of support and encouragement they had received from the Rochdale community, and suggested that the new training facilities for construction training would be a great asset to the Borough.

In particular, Ms Munro said that the trainees on the Rebuild Project would now greatly benefit from a more personal touch in construction training , and would progress more effectively than in the past.

Mr Wight added that the training room provided a vital link to the Jericho Construction business and the flexibility of training in house and in the work place would be a major step forward in helping the trainees to be ready for full time work.

The room is capable of having up to eight trainees at one time, learning a variety of skills including plastering, joinery, tiling and brick laying.
