Planning permission granted for new school

Date article online: 17/04/2008

Outline planning permission for the demolition of Hollingworth High School and the building of a new school has been granted subject to conditions. The application sought approval of the layout of the site and access to it with scale, appearance and landscaping reserved for subsequent consideration.

The details submitted with the application indicate that the building will be in keeping with the existing single and two storey school with a three storey block situated at the low end of the existing sloped recreational land to the north of the site.

The school intake will remain at the current 1200 places.

Though outline permission was forthcoming, the relocation of an existing footpath was not approved due to the steep gradient of the proposed new path.
