Evacuation after car park blaze

The ground floor of a block of flats in Wardle has been evacuated because of a fire in a car park.

Firefighters were sent to Shaw Lodge in Wardle, in the early hours after receiving reports of two cars on fire in the basement.

Families were moved from the flats immediately above the parking area because of fears a lower wall could collapse, the fire service said.

Two fire crews remain at the scene on Ramsden Road.
