Labour Leader apologises to council officers
Rochdale’s Labour Group leader, Allen Brett, has admitted his remarks on the subject of Rochdale Council and the town centre development were incorrect.
He said: “Having discussed this matter further with the chief executive I would like it to be known that there are no contradictory views amongst senior council officers regarding the public consultation. I apologise for inferring that this is the case.
Councillor Brett continued: “I have made my views clear on the fact that I understand the public consultation did not form part of the criteria on which the developer’s proposals were judged. Considering that this matter is likely to be resolved by legal action I do not think it is appropriate for me to add anything further at this stage.”
