Sign a pledge to get in shape for summer
Date published: 12/05/2008
The recent sunshine is a sign that summer is on its way. That means it’s time to ditch the woollies and unveil some flesh. But many people find they don’t fit into their summer gear quite so easily, carrying a little bit more weight from the winter months of hibernation.
To help the people of Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale to get in shape for summer, the local ‘Do you feel good?’ healthy lifestyles team will be hitting the streets from 19 May. They will be providing a range of activities including ideal weight checks, cholesterol tests, fitness tests and food demonstrations, as well as giving advice on how to get in shape.
The team will also be asking people to sign a pledge to change one or more thing about their lifestyle over the summer. This could be a number of things from losing weight or inches, drinking more water or improving fitness.
A spokeswoman for HMRPCT said: "The important thing is that you have a realistic goal that you will be able to work towards over the summer. A good idea might be to set the target for your summer holiday which will help to keep you motivated."
The team will be visiting the following locations:
- 19 May - Morrisons Supermarket, Heywood, 10am-4pm
- 20 May - Middleton Guardens, 10am-4pm
- 21 May - Argyle Parade, Darn Hill 10am-1pm
- 21 May - Hollin Children’s Centre, Tintern Rd 2pm-5pm
- 22 May - The Butts, Rochdale, 10am-4pm
- 23 May - Kirkholt Drop In Centre, The Strand, 10am-1pm
