The Backdoor Music Project has hosted the first round of its battle of the bands competition, at the Broadwater Centre in Rochdale town centre.
Four bands battled it out in the first leg of the competition, with victory going to heavy metal group Fight Another Day. They saw off strong competition from Sacrementis, Fight Another Day, Safety Pins and Astrix.
Two out of three of the judges voted Fight Another Day the best band on the night. Fight Another Day win through to the next round of the competition and are in with a chance of winning the top prize, a day's recording and filming session at Backdoor where they can record three of their tracks and shoot three videos.
Backdoor Music Project volunteers were also awarded on the night. They received certificates for giving up their spare time to help out with the band nights at the Project.
The certificates were awarded by Millennium Volunteers, a national charity that works with 16-25 year-olds.
The Backdoor Music Project has been running since 2004 and hosts regular band nights, attracting large crowds of young people.
