Sudden junction roadworks suspended for Christmas
Date published: 23/12/2007
The Sudden junction roadworks will be suspended between 24 December and 02 January 2008 to minimise disruption during the Christmas holiday period.
The next stage of the Manchester Road / Roch Valley Way / Edinburgh Way junction improvement works involves resurfacing the roads, as the surfaces require levelling where the roundabouts have been removed. As part of this work it is necessary to partially close the junction for eight weekends from 8 February 2008. Roch Valley Way and Edinburgh Way will be closed approaching the junction from 7pm Friday to 6pm Sunday on each weekend. Manchester Road will be kept open to traffic travelling in both directions and access to local properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
The decision to partially close the junction has only been taken after careful consideration. This solution ensures that local residents will not be disturbed by long periods of night time working; the completion date is brought forward as weekend working was not previously scheduled to take place; and road users are not adversely affected during the peak rush hour periods. The workforce and machinery used during these final stages will be doubled, and it is intended to work day and night throughout the weekend closures. By diverting the traffic and keeping road users fully informed, any disturbance will be kept to a minimum.
Delays are expected so please allow extra time for your journey.
