RoFTRA's June Board Meeting
Reporter: David Bartlett (RoFTRA)
Date online: 12/06/2008
The June meeting of RoFTRA's Board took place with a 14-item agenda that ranged from RBH to Regeneration and from a sharp focus on Lower Falinge to the future of the borough's voluntary and community sector.
Attendance was good and the discussions lively as usual, with strong support for the decisions taken by its Officer Group since its last meeting.
The news that the Council is committed to a genuine tripartite approach to discussions of the future of the borough's council housing, including the Community Gateway model, was very welcome.
Serious concerns about the implications for many of RoFTRA's members as a result of the proposed changes to the borough's Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy were again discussed, this time with detailed information from the latest Index of Multiple Deprivation showing how the position of so many council estates had worsened between 2004 and 2007.
Current discussions about the arrangements for this year's elections of tenants to RBH's Board were reported and assessed and the meeting was encouraged to hear from the Chairman of a very positive meting he and the Chief Officer had had last week with RBH's new Chairman Ian Agnew.
