Staff development is aim of new learning centre

Date published: 12/06/2008

Rochdale Council has officially opened the doors to its brand new Centre for Learning and Development on Chichester Street, Rochdale, as it continues to place investment in its people at the forefront of its agenda.

Mark Godfrey, Learning and Development Manager said the centre will encourage learning across the organisation, enabling everyone to perform their role to the best of their ability: “With an aim to create an environment where everyone can be actively involved in their own learning, the Centre for Learning and Development has a team ready and waiting to point individuals and service teams in the right direction.

“In addition, the sophistication in design for the new centre significantly minimises the need for staff to hire outside conferencing facilities, so the cost saving in this area will be substantial.”

Councillor Keith Swift, Cabinet Member for Townships and Corporate Management, adds: “The opening of the new Centre for Learning and Development demonstrates the council’s continued commitment to maximising staff potential. Building on the talents of our people is fundamental to the council’s overall success in the long term, and with a mix of in-house learning sessions and bespoke activities, we look forward to seeing our staff take full advantage of this personal development opportunity.”

The Centre for Learning and Development, which opened in conjunction with Learning At Work Day, comprises a mixture of interactive learning technologies and dynamic training environments. The centre is located at Chichester Business Centre in Rochdale.
