Boy missing from Middleton home

Date published: 24/06/2008

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for a 13-year-old boy who has been missing from home for more than a month.

Daniel Whitehead was last seen at his home on Walsingham Avenue, Middleton, on Wednesday 21 May. There have been a number of reported sightings of Daniel since he went missing and it was believed he was staying with friends.

The last confirmed sighting of him was on Wednesday 4 June 2008, when he was seen on Shaw Road, Oldham.

Daniel is described as white, 4ft 5ins tall with short brown hair, brown eyes and of a medium build. He was wearing a grey tracksuit, with black shorts and a red top underneath.

Police Constable Cathy Watts of Oldham police station said: "Initially there were a number of sightings of Daniel, and at first we believe he was staying with friends.

"Since those sightings have now stopped we need to know that Daniel is safe and well. It is possible he could be in the Burnley area as he has family and friends there, but we don't want to rule out the fact he could still be in Oldham or Rochdale.

"If you have any information about Daniel's whereabouts, or if Daniel is reading this himself, please contact us to let us know you are safe."
